This year, the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection has introduced similar changes to both the IBPS PO Prelims and Mains exam patterns. Candidates planning to appear for IBPS PO 2026 should be familiar with the updated structure to ensure effective preparation. The revised IBPS PO Exam Pattern 2026 is explained below.

IBPS PO Preliminary Exam Pattern 2026

The IBPS PO Preliminary Examination is held in an online mode, with candidates given a total time of one hour to complete it. The exam comprises three sections, carrying a combined total of 100 questions for a maximum of 100 marks. A negative marking system is applied, where 0.25 marks are deducted for every incorrect response. To be eligible for the IBPS PO Main Examination, candidates must meet the sectional cut-off in all three sections. Additionally, the total marks allotted to the Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability sections have been revised.

  • Revised Marking Scheme: The marks distribution across different sections has been updated.
  • Negative Marking: For every incorrect response in the objective test, 0.25 marks will be deducted as a penalty.
  • Updated Exam Duration: The duration of the IBPS PO 2026 Mains Objective Test has been revised to 160 minutes, followed by an additional 30 minutes for the descriptive section.
  • Total Time: Overall, candidates will have 190 minutes (3 hours and 10 minutes) to complete the entire IBPS PO Mains examination.
