  2. Main Examination

To secure a position in the clerical cadre of leading Public Sector Banks, candidates must successfully clear both phases of the examination process. Each section must be completed within a time limit of 20 minutes. The preliminary exam carries a total of 100 marks. The qualifying cut-off marks are determined by IBPS and may vary every year depending on factors such as the difficulty level of the examination and overall candidate performance.

However, no marks will be deducted for questions that are left unanswered or blank.

  • Marks secured in the Preliminary Examination (Phase 1) are not taken into account while preparing the final merit list.
  • Candidates are required to qualify in the Main Examination (Phase 2) to be considered for final selection.
  • The final merit list is prepared on the basis of the aggregate marks obtained out of 100 for each category. Candidates securing the highest ranks in their respective categories are shortlisted for appointment.
